a deep dive into core sectors.
In gender equality in the workplace report, we outline the concerns felt by employees in the construction, education, healthcare and technology sectors, highlight where gender discrimination still persists, and shine a light on the factors currently impacting careers within these sectors.
-
women remain underrepresented within construction.
Our survey data has revealed that within construction, female managers are not the norm, work life balance is impacting careers and many are still experiencing inappropriate behaviour.
-
greater training opportunities needed for teachers.
The male workforce is currently underrepresented within the education sector. The current biggest frustration is the lack of training resources provided by employers.
-
healthcare remains dominated by female workers.
Gender imbalance can certainly go both ways. Just over a third of care workers surveyed were male. Workload and balancing personal commitments with a busy working schedule remain the sector's biggest challenges.
-
technology remains male-dominated, but there is movement.
Just over a quarter of respondents who work within tech were female. There is some progress, however more needs to be done to attract more skilled women to the industry.
