delivering talent solutions for a global leader in construction.
By streamlining labour supply and fostering a truly collaborative partnership, Randstad helped Morgan Sindall enhance workforce efficiency, reduce costs, and implement a transparent and effective recruitment strategy across its UK sites.
background.
Morgan Sindall, a leading UK construction and infrastructure company, has long been recognised for its expertise across multiple sectors, including fit-out, property services, housing, regeneration, and development. As a large contracting firm with a diverse project portfolio, ensuring a consistent and high-quality workforce across its nationwide sites was a key operational priority.
Randstad, a global leader in recruitment and workforce solutions, had already established a successful and collaborative partnership with Morgan Sindall. The two organisations shared a commitment to delivering excellence, and Randstad’s extensive experience in talent supply made them a natural choice to help Morgan Sindall streamline its labour procurement processes.
the challenge.
Morgan Sindall faced a significant challenge in managing its temporary workforce supply. With multiple regional suppliers handling recruitment, the process had become fragmented, inefficient, and costly. The lack of a standardised approach led to inconsistencies in rates, processes, and quality of candidates, creating unnecessary complexities for hiring managers across the UK. To maintain its commitment to operational excellence and cost-effectiveness, Morgan Sindall needed a centralised, scalable, and transparent solution that could unify its workforce supply strategy.
the solution.
-
pioneering recruitment collaboration.
To address these challenges, the Morgan Sindall Labour Desk was established—a pioneering recruitment collaboration designed to ensure Perfect Delivery by supplying high-quality temporary workers efficiently, safely, and within budget.
The Labour Desk introduced a unique and fully collaborative model, bringing together four specialist recruitment agencies, including Randstad. These agencies were carefully selected based on their performance, expertise, and ability to provide localised knowledge across Morgan Sindall’s diverse project sites. Unlike the previous scattered regional approach, this collective panel operated under a unified strategy, creating a vendor-neutral system that ensured all agencies worked within a standard framework of rates, processes, and performance benchmarks.
-
tiered meritocracy system.
A tiered meritocracy system was implemented to reward high-performing agencies and address underperformance, fostering a competitive yet cooperative environment. This model eliminated inefficiencies, provided clear accountability, and significantly improved the quality and consistency of temporary workforce supply.
-
value-added services.
Beyond recruitment, Randstad provided additional value-added services to enhance client satisfaction. Recognising the importance of social value, Randstad’s Strategic Account Manager, a long-term collaborator with Morgan Sindall, personally led virtual learning sessions for young professionals. These sessions offered guidance on CV writing, cover letters, interview preparation, and career planning—helping individuals take meaningful steps towards employment.
