how our tuition services can change lives.
Our tuition services have the power to transform the lives of children and young people by igniting a passion for learning. Through personalised and focused support, tutoring helps pupils discover the joy of acquiring knowledge, turning what might have been a daunting task into an exciting journey.
As pupils engage with their tutor, they build self-confidence and realise their potential and capabilities. This newfound confidence can spill over into other areas of their lives, empowering them to tackle challenges with a positive mindset.
Furthermore, our tuition services drive the development of transferable skills which benefit pupils beyond the classroom. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication are just a few of the competencies that tutoring helps to develop. These skills are essential for lifelong learning, ensuring that pupils are not only prepared for academic success but are also equipped to navigate the complexities of life.
By embedding a love of learning and nurturing essential skills, our tuition services supports the foundations for the pupil’s future and instills a lifelong commitment to personal and intellectual growth.

what to expect from our tutors.
Our tutors will act as teachers during the sessions, providing structured and supportive instruction. Tutoring sessions will be delivered either online or face-to-face, and you will be informed of the lesson delivery method before the sessions commence.
Your child will receive tuition one-to-one or in a small group, typically with no more than three students. When tutors begin working with your child, they will take time initially to ask them questions to find out about their likes and dislikes, as well as their preferred learning style. They also benefit from discussing your child's needs with you to ensure they provide bespoke support tailored to their needs.
Alongside their lessons, your child may be assigned additional tasks, such as homework or research, to be done between sessions. The tutor will work with your child to enhance their learning in specific subjects and build confidence.
Tutors also have access to an online tool to help them assess your child’s current strengths and areas to focus on. This ensures that support is provided where it’s needed the most to have maximum impact on your child’s progress.
what you can do to support us.
To ensure your child's tuition sessions are productive and beneficial, we need your support in several key areas:
Please ensure your child is prepared to commence their session on time. This includes being dressed appropriately, having eaten, and having the necessary equipment, such as pens, pencils, and a calculator. If using IT equipment ensure the pupil is logged on, microphones and headsets are working properly, they have their passwords to hand and have plenty of power to last the length of their session.
Provide a suitable learning environment, such as a quiet area away from distractions (e.g. TVs and phones) and ideally seated at a table.
During each session, please allow the tutor the space to carry out their work while remaining within earshot to ensure the tutor is never entirely on their own but you can keep track of what's going on.
Be available to chat with the tutor, who will provide regular feedback on your child's progress. We also offer a termly survey for you to provide feedback.
If your child cannot attend a session, inform the tutor beforehand, ideally with at least 24 hours' notice. If you are giving less than 24 hours notice to cancel a session, or simply do not show up on the day, this will mean that the session cannot be rescheduled and the allocated hours will be lost.

how will my child access tuition?
Tuition may be delivered face to face, either at school, a suitable public space (such as a local library), or in the pupils place of residence. Tuition can also be delivered online from a suitable location.
-
do I have to be with my child when they are being tutored?
For safeguarding reasons, a responsible adult must be in the vicinity/same room during tuition times. For example, parent and carers do not have to sit next to their child during tuition (unless they feel it beneficial to do so) but must be nearby and within earshot. No tuition should take place with a pupil who is on their own or in a closed room away from another responsible adult.
-
how can I help my child to get the most out of tuition?
Help your child to get into a good routine, such as being up, dressed, fed and ready to learn on time. Creating a quiet place with the right equipment, such as a desk and chair away from distractions. Ask your child how tuition is going and feedback anything to the tutor, or to us, that may help. Let us know in advance if there are any dos and don'ts for your child that the tutor should be aware of. Complete the termly satisfaction surveys to help us to know what's going well, and where improvements could be made.
-
what do I do if the session has to be cancelled?
Please let the tutor know as much in advance as possible, at least 24 hours if you can. Failure to do so may affect the pupils attendance record and the funding will be wasted for that session.
-
what if my child doesn't want to attend tuition?
If, for any reason, your child is not engaging with tuition, let us know so that we can work with you to try to find the best way to encourage them to start engaging with sessions. We understand that some pupils may take a while to get used to a structured learning routine, so we can advise you on how to support your child to build up to this at a suitable pace.
-
what if my child doesn't like the tutor?
We work hard to ensure our tutors are a good match for each pupil. However, sometimes personalities and teaching styles are not always a perfect match. In this case, get in touch with Randstad in the first instance and explain the situation, we may be able to help by working with you and the tutor on any blocks. Alternatively, we can help to source a more suitable tutor if all avenues have been explored.
