Nicky Moffat's top tips.
-
deliver on promises.
It is important to deliver on the promises we as leaders make.
-
capability first.
We must work with our teams to recognise capability first, unhindered by bias and build in processes to guarantee fair play always.
-
always think you can.
We must always think we ‘can’, because even if the institutional cards are stacked against us, one of the key barriers to our success should never be our own mindsets.
-
drive progress.
Leaders who set the example, are clear about expectations, and who oversee the systematic dismantling of barriers to diversity, can drive progress in this space. If you are working in an environment that is neither supportive nor inclusive, look elsewhere.
Maro Itoje's top tips.
-
lead by example.
The most powerful way to inspire others is by getting your own performance right and leading by example. Always look to energise your team through your actions and behaviours.
-
be authentic.
Be authentic and don’t try and be something you’re not. Authenticity is important because if you are not portraying your true self, people will eventually see through the facade and you’ll not only lose your power and influence but you will also lose the respect of those around you.
-
learn from everything.
Look for the learning opportunities through the tougher times as you and your team will learn a lot about yourselves and each other during these situations. It’s all about how you respond to these challenges, how you bounce back and look to rectify performances that matters.
-
keep your standards high.
Look to motivate your team through shared goals and push yourself and your team to reach a high standard. People will want to join you in being the best they can be.
