One Commercial Manager from Skanska was kind enough to comment,
“I have utilised Randstad on a number of projects over the last 10 years with my last project being the Waterloo International Terminal with
Skanska. Randstad have provided staff of a high calibre and who are best suited to the project and its specific challenges. This was over and above the service that I am used to from providers of agency labour.”Partnering with Skanska and the Wessex Capacity Alliance, one example of our proven placement prowess is evident in 134 technical & professional jobs filled.
The Lead Delivery at Skanska held us in high regard,
“I would like to thank Randstad for the support that your organisation has given to the successful delivery of the Wessex Capacity Alliance’s portfolio of work. A wide range of skill sets and roles have been covered by yourselves from Director level all the way to site operative. All the Randstad staff have demonstrated the required safety competence for their roles and had the correct delivery motivation to strengthen our teams and aid the successful delivery of the projects on the Alliance.
I would also like to thank Randstad's management for supporting the supply chain directors safety forums and safety events and for always being at hand to provide help. As the world's number one recruiter with 12 key branches across the UK, despite our stronghold in the blue-collar market, we also have an ever-expanding team dedicated to white collar roles.
Our rail team for white collar workers is known in the business for high quality, high volume placements leading the way in a growing market.
support for you
and your candidates.
With Randstad, we believe in a human forward approach to client and candidate relationships. Where possible, and safe to do so, we encourage regular face-to-face meetings or video call interactions so you know who you are working with and we can build strong bonds together.
Our work with mental health charities has lead us to understand the importance for workers in construction and across the world. This is why we do so much to support everyone that works with us to provide the additional benefits most recruitment agencies will ignore.

why infrastructure roles in the UK.
-
infrastructure heritage.
Britain has a great infrastructure heritage. Stephenson. Brunel. Bazalgette. Ingenious and prolific mechanical and civil engineers from our history. Their achievements in infrastructure were towering - from a London sewer network which was instrumental in relieving the city from cholera epidemics to the Great Western Railway, one of the wonders of Victorian Britain. Their feats have granted them immortality in the construction industry.
-
candidates consider pay-cuts for big projects.
Infrastructure projects make such excellent bullet points on a construction professional’s CV and that people jump at the chance to work on them.
When we asked candidates if they’d ever work on a project for a discount:
- 38% said they’d take a pay cut to work on a historically important infrastructure project.
How much would candidates be willing to sacrifice for the glamour of a certain project?
- On average a 10% pay cut - a testament to the reputational currency of infrastructure projects across the industry.
-
leveraging big names on a CV.
Construction professional Yemi Kusimo says part of the benefit of big bluechip projects is that no one has to google your job to understand what you’ve been doing. “When I’m hiring someone, the big projects are easy to understand. Equally, people know what I’m doing if they can see them on my CV. Having them on your resume makes life easier for you in the future.”
Demand for construction professionals has never been higher in recent months, with the support of the economy and the government, major rail projects lay the tracks for an infrastructure boom.
- Crossrail 1 is looking to complete in the coming year - finally bringing the incredible new Canary Wharf station to life.
- HS2 already employs around 1,500 people; transport links to serve the Northern Powerhouse are planned; we’re seeing investment in state-of-the-art in-cab digital signalling to allow trains to run more frequently and more reliably
- The Luton DART is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2021
- Crossrail 2 will be the fourth major rail project in the capital since 2000, following the East London line extensions, the Thameslink Programme and Crossrail itself.
Of course, infrastructure is not all about rail.
- We are investing in London’s sewer system with The Thames Tideway sewer.
- We’re investing in our roads via smart motorway projects.
- An arrivals terminal is being built at Stansted - with construction set to take three years at a cost of £130m.
- Mogden sewage treatment works now covers 140 acres.
- Hinkley Point C nuclear power station, a 3,200 MWe nuclear power station with two EPR reactors, is under construction. They’re even finally doing something about Battersea Power Station.
Randstad is a big part of the Infrastructure of Britain, serving roles to many large scale operations daily.
