Are you a dedicated and resilient individual with a passion for supporting young people with complex needs?

Do you thrive in challenging environments and find satisfaction in helping students overcome obstacles?

If so, we have a rewarding opportunity for you in a vibrant and supportive special educational needs school. We are seeking experienced SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team on both long-term and supply bases. This is a chance to make a real difference in the lives of young people who face significant emotional and behavioural challenges.

Be prepared for a rewarding but demanding role:

    • Expect to work with students who exhibit a wide range of challenging behaviours. This might include aggression, anxiety, defiance, and difficulty with social interaction.
    • You'll need a strong understanding of SEMH needs and effective strategies to manage challenging behaviour. This includes de-escalation techniques, positive reinforcement, and a calm and consistent approach.
    • Be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment with a high workload. You'll be supporting students individually and in small groups, often with a focus on emotional regulation, social skills development, and academic support.

We are looking for individuals with:

    • Proven experience working with students with SEMH needs in a school setting. You'll need to be able to demonstrate your ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively and build positive relationships with students.
    • A strong understanding of child development and learning needs, particularly those with SEMH difficulties. You'll need to be able to adapt your approach to meet the individual needs of each student.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You'll need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
    • Resilience and a positive attitude. This role requires a strong commitment to supporting students, even when faced with challenging situations.

    We offer:

    • A supportive and collaborative environment with a dedicated team of professionals. You'll be part of a team that is committed to providing the best possible support for our students.
    • Opportunities for professional development and training. We are committed to supporting our staff to develop their skills and knowledge.
    • Competitive salary and benefits package.

If you are ready to take on a challenging but rewarding role, please submit your CV and a covering letter to [Contact information for the school or recruitment agency] outlining your experience and why you are interested in this role.

We look forward to hearing from you!
