Durham County Council is committed to safeguarding children and young people. We are a dedicated team working to protect vulnerable children and young people from exploitation and abuse. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Adolescent, Safeguarding and Exploitation Team.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a caseload of complex cases involving adolescents at risk of exploitation and abuse, including child sexual exploitation, criminal exploitation, and modern slavery.
- Conduct thorough assessments of risk and need, developing individualised care plans and interventions.
- Work closely with families, young people, and other agencies to deliver effective and timely support.
- Provide specialist advice and guidance to colleagues and partners on safeguarding issues.
- Advocate for the needs of young people and promote their best interests.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to safeguarding.
- Participate in training and supervision, maintaining a high level of professional development.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with adolescents and/or experience in safeguarding and exploitation.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
