North Tyneside Council's Children's Social Care is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to lead our Assessment Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families in our community.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Provide leadership and motivation to a team of social workers, ensuring high-quality service delivery and staff well-being.
- Strategic Development: Work closely with senior management to develop and implement service strategies, policies, and procedures aligned with council priorities.
- Effective Service Delivery: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring that assessments are conducted efficiently and effectively, meeting the needs of service users.
- Championing Child-Centered Practice: Promote person-centered practice, ensuring services empower families and children to achieve their goals and live fulfilling lives.
- Building Strong Partnerships: Establish and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders, including other agencies, voluntary organizations, and community groups, to deliver holistic support to children and families.
- Resource Management: Manage budgets, resources, and staffing to ensure efficient service delivery and financial sustainability.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, ensuring services meet the highest standards and are continually evolving to meet changing needs.
- Direct Assessment and Care Planning: Provide direct support to the team by conducting assessments and developing individualised care plans for children and families.
- Collaborative Practice: Work collaboratively with the team, families, children, and other professionals, including schools, health services, and the police, to deliver timely and effective support.
- Expertise and Guidance: Offer information, advice, and support to team members on safeguarding issues and best practice.
- Accurate Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring adherence to relevant legislation and guidelines.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Proven experience in a senior management role within Children's Social Care.
- Experience in leading and motivating teams.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable children and families.
