The Assistant Head of Key Stage 4 will play a pivotal role in leading academic excellence and continuous improvement, ensuring high standards of teaching, curriculum design, and student outcomes. They will work collaboratively with faculty members, fostering a culture of professional growth and innovation while maintaining alignment with this International Schools mission and vision. He/she must also be committed to the development of the school and modeling professional behaviour. He/she must also be committed to his/her own professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Leadership
- Oversee the Pastoral care system in Key Stage 4, ensuring students' well-being, safeguarding, and personal development are prioritised.
- Lead the implementation of a positive behaviour policy, ensuring consistency and fairness in its application across the year groups.
- Address and resolve issues relating to behaviour, attendance, and safeguarding, working collaboratively with external agencies when appropriate.
- Manage and support the team of Year Leaders and Form Tutors in Key Stage 4, providing guidance on attendance, punctuality, and pastoral interventions.
- Work with students to develop resilience, self-management, and a growth mindset, preparing them for the challenges of further study and life beyond school.
- Promote enrichment and personal development opportunities to enhance students' experiences and build cultural capital.
Person Specification Requirements:
Quality Improvement
- Lead the self-evaluation process for Key Stage 4, ensuring the accuracy of judgements and identifying clear, actionable priorities for improvement.
- Contribute to the school's quality assurance processes, including lesson observations, book reviews, and student voice activities, to ensure high standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to align Key Stage 4 systems and approaches with the wider school strategy.
- Develop and implement action plans for Key Stage 4 that are linked to whole-school priorities and are evaluated for impact.
- Ensure effective use of data to track progress and attainment, identifying underachievement and leading interventions to address gaps.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to foster a culture of collaboration and shared responsibility for success.
- Deliver clear, effective communication about Key Stage 4 priorities, events, and expectations, ensuring all stakeholders are informed and engaged.
- Lead Key Stage 4 events such as parents' evenings, information sessions, and celebration events, ensuring they are purposeful and well-organised.
- Liaise with external partners, including examination boards and educational agencies, to ensure compliance and access to the latest guidance.
Management and Organisation
- Line manage the Year Leaders, Form Tutors, and any support staff within Key Stage 4, ensuring accountability and providing professional development.
- Organise and oversee the smooth running of Key Stage 4 activities, including examinations, transition processes, and enrichment opportunities.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration between academic and pastoral teams to provide holistic support for students.
- Manage resources and budgets allocated to Key Stage 4, ensuring they are used efficiently and align with strategic priorities.
- Oversee transition planning for Year 11 students, including post-16 pathways guidance and support with applications.
Whole-School Contribution
- Act as a role model for staff and students, upholding the school's values and contributing to the wider school culture.
- Take a proactive role in whole-school leadership, contributing to strategic discussions and Decision-making.
- Lead by example in meeting professional standards, including punctuality, workload management, and communication.
- Undertake other duties as directed by the Headteacher that are commensurate with the role and support the school's priorities.
Qualifications
- Education: PGCE, BEd, or equivalent teaching qualification (required);
- Master's degree in Education or a related field (preferred).
- Leadership Qualifications: Advanced leadership training or qualifications such as NPQSL (National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership) or equivalent (desirable).
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years Secondary Teaching Experience
- Demonstrated success in a leadership role, including leading a department or faculty to achieve measurable improvement in student outcomes.
- Proven ability to lead and implement change, with a track record of setting and achieving ambitious targets that support continuous improvement.
- Experience contributing to whole-school initiatives and engaging with the wider school community to support a unified approach to school-wide goals.
- Effective in managing resources and personnel to align with broader school objectives and standards.
Skills and Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of curriculum and assessment frameworks.
- Proficiency in data analysis to support decision-making and improvement plans.
