About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Attendance Officer to join a vibrant secondary school in Wakefield on a temporary, part-time basis. Your primary focus will be to monitor and improve attendance rates, ensuring students receive the support they need to succeed academically. This role is initially for one month, with potential to extend and include a additional working day for the right candidate.

Essential Requirements:
- Previous experience as an Attendance Officer in a school setting.
- Proficiency in using SIMS (School Information Management System).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS check on the update service.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Skills
- Proficiency in using MIS systems (e.g., SIMS, Arbor).
- Ability to analyse attendance data and identify trends.
- Confidence in liaising with parents/carers and external agencies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- High levels of professionalism and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and track daily attendance data for all students.
- Identify and address patterns of poor attendance.
- Work closely with pastoral teams to support students with attendance issues.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance and interventions.
- Develop and implement attendance improvement strategies.
- Provide administrative support for attendance-related tasks.
- Process leave of absence requests in line with school policy.
- Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures in attendance matters.
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Assist with general administrative duties as required.
