We are looking to recruit a Buyer for an established regional contracting business based near Fareham.
The company work in the commercial contracting marketplace on schemes on from £5 to £30 million on a wide range of sectors including health-care, education, care and nursing home, retail, commercial and hotels on both new build and refurbishment schemes. Work is tendered on a single stage or negotiated with long standing clients.
They currently have schemes on site in Berkshire, Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex and have a number of secured projects due to start across the region over the next 12 months.
Your role is to support the delivery and commercial teams on site and work with them to establish best practice and systems for the procurement, supply and delivery of materials and plant to site to keep the subcontractors busy and ensure the programme is not affected adversely whilst securing best prices, best and reliable service from suppliers and ensure delivery dates and lead times are managed effectively.
You will regularly visit sites to check on progress and quality, speak daily with the delivery and commercial teams to make sure they have what they need, highlight forthcoming critical pathway dates and anticipate their needs and work with the site master plan to ensure that lead times for key components are met.
You will be responsible for building and managing relationships with key suppliers and not accepting poor service or late deliveries and be confident to pick up the phone and ring round different suppliers and hold meetings with new suppliers as well as reviews with existing supply chain.
