Position Overview: As a Children's Social Worker in our Access Hub, you will play a key role in providing immediate support and intervention to children and families in crisis. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children, while earning a competitive rate of £37.60 per hour.
Responsibilities:
- Respond promptly to referrals from various sources, including families, professionals, and community agencies, conducting initial assessments and triaging cases according to urgency and risk.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to children and families in need, addressing immediate safety concerns and ensuring that appropriate services are accessed.
- Conduct thorough assessments of children's needs and family circumstances, working collaboratively with families and relevant professionals to develop and implement tailored support plans.
- Coordinate services and referrals to internal and external agencies, ensuring that children and families receive timely and appropriate support to address their needs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, documentation, and electronic records in accordance with regulatory standards and organizational policies.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including social work assistants, team managers, and other professionals, to ensure coordinated and integrated support for children and families.
- Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and training sessions to enhance professional development and share knowledge and best practices.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with relevant professional registration (e.g., HCPC).
- Proven experience working with children and families within a social services or child welfare setting, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to gather, analyze, and interpret information to inform decision-making and intervention planning.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trusting relationships with children, families, and colleagues.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection, safeguarding, and social work practice.
- Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating resilience, empathy, and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel within the community (if required).
