We are looking for dedicated Support Workers to join a highly respected provider supporting young people in care. This organisation is trusted by local authorities and has an outstanding success rate in helping young people transition into independent living. You will be working in their Trauma Informed Residential Home.
About the Role:
As a Support Worker, you will provide essential guidance and support to young people living in care. You will be working in their home! Their safe place, working with young people who've experienced significant trauma. Some of the young people you work with may be at risk of exploitation, struggle with substance use, or display challenging behaviour. Many will present with complex emotional challenges, you will be expected to support these young people through their highs, but most importantly lows - no matter how they present.
Some of the core aspects of the role are:
- Building trusting relationships with young people and acting as a positive role model.
- Helping young people to develop life skills, confidence, and independence.
- Managing challenging situations with empathy, patience, and de-escalation techniques.
- Ensuring a safe and structured environment in line with safeguarding regulations.
- Working on a 2 days followed by 4 days off- This includes regular sleep-ins (£40 per sleep-in).
What We're Looking For:
- Experience in children's residential care or a related field is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication, de-escalation, and behaviour management skills.
- A fundamental understanding of safeguarding procedures and their importance.
- A full UK driving licence is essential.
- The resilience, empathy, and commitment to supporting young people through complex emotional and behavioural challenges.
