Responsibilities:
To supervise unpaid work clients in accordance with National Standards and Council policies and procedures.
- To supervise and co-ordinate squad placements, this includes:
- Supervising offenders serving community payback orders
- Ensuring the smooth running of an effective and efficient squad whilst on site
- Preparation of squad work plans for identified sites including site visits
- Providing basic training to clients on use of equipment and completion of tasks where necessary
- Monitoring and assessing work performance of clients while on site to ensure timescales are met
- To complete appropriate risk assessments for all sites and work plans
- To carry out driving duties where required including the transportation of clients
- To liaise with internal services and external agencies/partners to ensure the delivery of an efficient Community Payback Service
- To work with Senior Community Payback Officers in line with operational guidelines to ensure the smooth running of the service
- To complete standard proformas regarding attendance, performance etc. of clients and submit these within set timescales to management
- To open and secure depots as and when required
- To be involved in regular monitoring, reviewing and development of the service under the direction of the Service Manager
- To appear and provide relevant testimony in court when required
- To co-operate with the introduction of new procedures and/or new equipment/technology
- To ensure the confidentiality and security of all information in accordance with the requirements of the Data Protection Act 1998.
- To comply with the Council's Equality Policy.
- To ensure that the duties and/or responsibilities, as defined in the Council's Health & Safety Policy are implemented within the sphere of operation of the post with particular reference at all times to the Health & Safety of employees and members of the public.
- To carry out any other duties relevant to the post, as and when required to suit the Council's directives and objectives, subject to any reasonable adjustments under the Equality Act 2010.
Qualifications and registrations:
- Served a recognised apprenticeship; or equivalent experience relevant to the post
- Experience in working with vulnerable groups
- Experience of working with partner agencies
- Use of risk assessment
- Demonstrate an understanding of issues surrounding offending behaviour
- Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate an ability to motivate
- Demonstrate good team working skills
- Demonstrate good organisational skills
- Demonstrate good negotiation skills
- Demonstrate an ability to interpret and work from drawings, instructions and specifications
- Demonstrate an ability to pass on skills and knowledge to others
- Demonstrate a flexible approach to service delivery
- Demonstrate an ability to work irregular hours (weekend working)
- Hold a full, current driving licence
