Position Estimator
Location South Yorkshire
Salary £50,000 - £60,000 + package
Randstad are working alongside a large regional House Builder who are seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team. This house builder prides themselves on delivering high quality housing throughout West and South Yorkshire, where their priority is customer satisfaction. As the Estimator, you will be undertaking estimating duties on proposed developments. These will
vary in nature, size and complexity, where you will provide a build cost estimate to enable the wider Pre-Development Team to formulate an acquisition and development strategy.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- You'll work closely internally with the commercial team and externally with subcontractors to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective proposed solutions for each site.
- You'll also work with the design and engineering team to be able to apply cost assumptions and develop estimates which will ultimately inform the financial offer for the site.
- Reviewing design and tender documentation, contract conditions, other job-specific factors, and production of risk analyses, in order to inform the 'decision to tender'.
- Arranging and chairing cost adjudication project team meetings and contributing towards tender strategy decisions.
- Producing accurate estimates based on available data and your knowledge in order to prepare competitive estimates of development costs.
- Assisting the Land and Partnerships Director in the preparation of land appraisals/bids for identified opportunities.
- Collaborate effectively with internal Technical, Commercial, and Construction teams, as well as external Project teams and subcontractors.
Experience required:
- Good understanding and awareness of house building methods and technologies.
- Ability to interpret and cost technical drawings relating to house types, engineering and wider site works.
- Established industry contacts to be able to ensure the most appropriate solutions are applied to sites.
- Detailed working knowledge of Microsoft Excel to be able to develop and refine estimating tools.
- Working knowledge of site wide works packages relating to residential development.
Skills:
- Financial / Commercial awareness.
- Accurate cost control to a high standard.
- Accurate reporting skills.
- IT skills (Microsoft Excel and Office Suite).
- Proactive attitude and able to work under own initiative.
Qualifications:
- Construction degree or equivalent
- CSCS Card
