Northumberland County Council's Family Assessment and Child Team (FACT) Disability Team is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Social Worker. We are committed to providing high-quality support to children with disabilities and their families, promoting their well-being and ensuring their safety.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
... - Conducting Comprehensive Assessments: Carry out thorough assessments of children with disabilities and their families, identifying their needs, strengths, and risks. This includes understanding the impact of the child's disability on the family and the support they require.
- Developing and Implementing Care Plans: Develop and implement individualised care plans, ensuring the safety and well-being of children. This involves working closely with families, other professionals, and agencies to create effective and appropriate support plans.
- Safeguarding Children: Proactively identify and address safeguarding concerns, ensuring timely and effective interventions. This requires a good understanding of child protection procedures and legislation.
- Collaboration and Partnership Working: Work closely with a range of professionals and agencies, including health visitors, educational psychologists, and other support services, to provide coordinated and holistic support to families.
- Advocating for Children: Represent the needs of children with disabilities and their families, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are protected.
- Maintaining Accurate Records: Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines. This includes completing assessments, care plans, and other relevant paperwork to a high standard.
- Building Trust and Rapport: Establish positive and supportive relationships with families, encouraging open communication and cooperation.
- Contribute to Service Development: Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of service delivery within the team and wider service.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with children with disabilities and their families.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to supporting children with disabilities.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
- Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of children and families.
