As a General Foreman, you will oversee day-to-day site operations, working closely with the Project Manager and project teams to deliver critical water infrastructure upgrades. This role offers the flexibility and independence of freelance work, coupled with the opportunity to work on a high-profile project that will shape the future of water services in the region.
Key Responsibilities:
- Site Supervision: Manage and oversee all on-site activities, ensuring compliance with programme timelines, quality standards, and budgetary constraints.
- Health & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular site inspections and promoting a safety-first culture.
- Team Management: Supervise subcontractors and direct labour, ensuring efficient resource allocation and clear communication of daily tasks.
- Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve site issues to minimise disruptions and maintain smooth project progression.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to ensure effective collaboration and project alignment.
- Quality Control: Ensure all work is completed to the highest quality standards and in accordance with technical specifications and client requirements.
What We're Looking For:
- Experience: Demonstrable experience in a similar role within civil engineering, with a focus on large-scale infrastructure projects (water or utilities experience highly advantageous).
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead teams effectively, with excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of construction techniques, interpreting drawings and specifications, and managing site activities.
- Qualifications: Relevant certifications such as SMSTS, SSSTS, or equivalent (essential). Additional certifications in first aid or confined spaces are advantageous.
- Flexibility: A proactive, solutions-driven mindset with the ability to adapt to evolving site requirements.
