We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Science to join a specialist SEMH school in Wakefield (WF2). This is an exciting opportunity for a strong leader with a background in Science and experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Science department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning across all key stages.
- Develop and implement an engaging and inclusive Science curriculum tailored to meet the needs of SEMH learners.
- Support and mentor Science staff, promoting best teaching practices and professional development.
- Monitor student progress, using data to drive improvements and ensure positive outcomes.
- Work closely with the wider school leadership team to contribute to whole-school strategies.
- Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment that supports students with SEMH needs.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a strong background in Science.
- Experience teaching Science at KS3 and KS4, ideally with leadership experience.
- Knowledge and understanding of working with SEMH and SEN students.
- Strong behaviour management skills and a student-centred approach.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills to engage staff and students.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
