Locum Health and Well-being Practitioner (Substance Misuse Team)
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Locum Health and Well-being Practitioner to join our Substance Misuse Team within AfC Early Help. This is a full-time, 3-month locum position based in Kingston and Richmond.
You will work directly with young people who have been or are still in the local authority care system, providing direct interventions to reduce the harm caused by problematic substance misuse. Working within a strong partnership, you will contribute to multi-agency care plans to achieve positive outcomes. This may also include providing training to professionals, housing providers, and parents.
About you
- Qualifications: Educated at level 4 or above in a relevant discipline (e.g., youth work, children and youth, social care, education, substance misuse qualifications). Evidence of continuing professional development is also required.
- Skills and experience:
- Experience engaging and building trusting relationships with young people who have faced early childhood adversity and present challenging behaviour, including risky behaviour such as offending, gangs, going missing, and drug misuse.
- Flexible, creative, and able to work on your own initiative.
- Experience working directly with young people who have misused substances and/or have been subject to the Leaving Care and/or Looked After Process.
- Experience in multi-agency working, care planning, and partnership working.
- Experience delivering 1:1 interventions and providing training to small groups of young people, professionals, and parents.
- Knowledge of relevant theory that informs practice delivery.
- Experience building strong partnerships and co-producing solutions to challenges across a diverse set of stakeholders.
- Experience addressing equality and diversity issues within your practice.
