The purpose of this role is to play a vital role in supporting Fleet Services by delivering high-quality, efficient inspections, services, maintenance, and repairs on all vehicles and plants.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Technical Expertise: Carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of vehicles and plant, both scheduled and unscheduled. Maintain all Plant and Machinery to set specifications.
- Customer Focus: Provide excellent service to all customers, internal and external, ensuring their safety and welfare while on site.
- Record Keeping: Complete accurate records of work undertaken on vehicles and plant, both manually and electronically.
- Road Testing and Breakdown Support: Undertake necessary road testing and respond to breakdowns.
- MOT Certification and Testing: Carry out MOTs on both light and heavy commercial vehicles to VOSA standard.
- Shift and Standby Responsibilities: Participate in standby rotas and shift systems as required.
- Training and Supervision: Provide supervision for Workshop Assistants, Apprentices, and Work Experience Placements.
- Professional Development: Undertake training to maintain and enhance professional skills.
- Fleet Management Support: Assist Fleet Services with fleet management, ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Vehicle Preparation: Prepare vehicles for annual MOT/plating tests.
- Diagnosis and Repair: Use specialist equipment to diagnose and repair vehicle faults, including electrical systems.
- Electric Vehicle Expertise: Adapt to new procedures and develop skills for electric vehicle maintenance.
- Electrical Installation: Undertake electrical installation of accessories and ancillary equipment.
- Key Management: Be responsible for the safekeeping of vehicle keys.
- Mentoring and Training: Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentices and other colleagues.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant qualifications and experience as an HG Vehicle Technician.
- A valid MOT test certificate.
- Proven ability to carry out inspections, servicing, maintenance, and repairs to a high standard.
- Experience working with specialist and alternate fueled vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair techniques.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience with electric vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Experience with electrical installation and testing of automotive systems.
- Experience in a public sector environment.
