Randstad are recruiting for an experienced Highways Inspector / Clerk of Works for a major urban realm development project in North London working for an industry leading reputable main contractor.
Scope of works include pavement, structures, bridges, Section 278 works, footpaths and cycleways, parkland and utilities.
This is a freelance position with a duration of 6-12 months paid via CIS.
Duties:
You'll ensure the contractor's work adheres to project specifications, drawings, and quality standards, safeguarding project integrity and ensuring successful delivery.
- Quality Guardian: You'll be the champion of quality, ensuring all construction activities adhere to design specifications, industry standards, and best practices.
- On-Site Presence: You'll be a familiar face on-site, conducting regular inspections and documenting progress meticulously.
- Detailed Records: You'll maintain accurate records of work completed, measurements, and any deviations from plans, providing a clear picture of project progress.
- Collaborative Problem Solver: You'll work closely with engineers, designers, and contractors, identifying and resolving issues promptly.
- Technical Support: You'll be a valuable asset to the Engineer, providing support during project implementation, troubleshooting, and problem-solving.
- Construction / Material Expertise: Your deep understanding of construction methodology and materials will allow you to assess work quality effectively.
- Mentor & Guide: You'll share your expertise and knowledge, mentoring less experienced team members and promoting best practices.
Required Experience
Previous experience working as a clerk of works / Quality Inspector for a highways contractor, local council authority on a highways framework (eg Lohac or STIC) or urban regenearation projects is essential.
