Job title: Housing Safety Enforcement Officer
Rate: £45-55 an hour, weekly pay
Contract: Temporary ongoing work

The role:

- Carry out inspections of residential properties to assess for potential hazards under the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS)
- Determine the risk levels associated with identified hazards and determine appropriate enforcement action.
- Work closely with landlords and tenants to achieve compliance with relevant legislation, offering advice and guidance as needed
- Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records of inspections and enforcement actions
- Issue enforcement notices, including improvement notices and prohibition orders, when necessary
- Collaborate with other agencies, including Environmental Health and Fire Safety, to address complex cases and ensure resident safety
- Stay up-to-date on current legislation and best practices in housing safety
Experience needed:
- A strong understanding of the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and relevant legislation
- Proven experience in conducting housing inspections and enforcing housing standards
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound judgements independently
- Strong attention to detail and excellent record-keeping abilities
