Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA)

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of those affected by domestic abuse? We are seeking a dedicated Locum Independent Domestic Violence Advisor (IDVA) to provide support and advocacy for individuals experiencing domestic abuse, based in the Manchester area.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct first response contact with citizens, assessing risk using the DASH Risk Indicator Checklist (RIC) and information from initial referrals.
• Develop informed safety plans and implement safeguarding actions.
• Provide onward referrals and signposting to appropriate support services.
• Develop tailored safety plans, considering housing and refuge options, legal remedies, and target hardening measures.
• Deliver immediate and effective support to those in crisis.
• Provide expert guidance on reporting options and legal protections.
• Represent victims at Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences (MARAC) as required.
• Establish and maintain robust internal and external pathways for support.
• Work closely with the IDVA team, medium-risk IDVAs, statutory services, and community outreach organisations (e.g., Women's Aid, LGBTQ+ support, SARC, ISVA, and other specialist services).

To be considered for the IDVA role, ideally you will have:

• Experience working with survivors of domestic abuse.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding, risk assessment (DASH RIC), and multi-agency working.
• Ability to work under pressure in a crisis-led environment.
• Excellent communication, advocacy, and organisational skills.
• Understanding of legal frameworks, housing options, and available support services.
