Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Team, Newcastle City Council
Newcastle City Council's Children's Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Children's Social Worker to join our dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Team. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their individual needs are met.
Your Role:
As an IRO Team member, you will be a champion for children in care, providing independent oversight and guidance to ensure their care journeys are positive and successful.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting Reviews: Carrying out regular reviews of children in care, ensuring their care plans meet their individual needs and wishes, and that their progress is monitored effectively.
- Advocating for Children: Acting as a strong advocate for children in care, ensuring their views and opinions are heard and considered in all decisions affecting their lives.
- Building Relationships: Developing trusting relationships with children in care and their families, providing support and guidance throughout their care journey.
- Collaborating with Professionals: Working closely with a wide range of professionals involved in a child's care, including social workers, foster carers, education staff, and health professionals, to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach.
- Upholding Standards: Ensuring that all aspects of a child's care are compliant with relevant legislation, policies, and best practice guidelines, upholding the highest standards of care.
- Contributing to Team Work: Working effectively as part of a team, sharing information, and supporting colleagues to achieve shared goals.
- Developing Expertise: Continuously developing your knowledge and skills related to independent reviewing and children in care, staying up-to-date on relevant legislation and best practices.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Experience with Children in Care: Demonstrated expertise and understanding of the needs and rights of children in care.
