Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Kinship Team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Social Worker to join our team. We are committed to supporting children in kinship care and their families, ensuring their wellbeing and promoting positive outcomes.
About the Role:
You will be part of a team dedicated to:
- Providing specialist support and interventions to children in kinship care and their families, addressing their needs and promoting their well-being.
- Working collaboratively with children, kinship carers, birth families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies to create individualised care plans.
- Advocating for the needs of children in kinship care, ensuring their rights and access to appropriate services and resources.
- Promoting positive relationships between children, kinship carers, and birth families, where appropriate.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children in kinship care and their families, identifying their needs, strengths, and aspirations.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans, tailored to the specific needs of each child and family.
- Provide direct support to children and families through one-to-one sessions, group work, and community outreach.
- Facilitate access to specialist services and resources, such as education, healthcare, and social inclusion opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to ensure children receive the best possible care and support.
- Monitor progress, evaluate interventions, and make adjustments as needed.
- Advocate for the needs of children in kinship care, ensuring their rights and well-being are protected.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with children in kinship care and their families.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to kinship care.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to build rapport with children, families, and other professionals.
- Commitment to supporting children in kinship care to achieve their full potential and live fulfilling lives.
