About the Role
A vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Leeds is seeking an outstanding Lead Teacher of Music to join their Creative Arts department from September 2025. This is a permanent, full-time position offering the chance to lead and shape music education in a supportive environment that values staff development and student success.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Music teacher with a passion for inclusive and inspiring learning. You will play a pivotal role in developing the music curriculum, supporting extra-curricular provision, and championing the arts across the wider school community.

Position Details
Contract: Permanent, Full-time
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 per annum (plus potential TLR depending on experience and responsibility)
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Right to work in the UK
- A secure understanding of the National Curriculum for Music
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)

- Experience leading or coordinating a subject area
- Skilled in using music technology and software
- Enthusiasm for leading school performances or musical events
- A positive, growth-minded approach to teaching and leadership
- A team-focused attitude with a flair for creativity and innovation
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver engaging Music lessons across KS3 and KS4
- Support curriculum development and department planning
- Inspire students of all abilities through inclusive, high-quality teaching
- Lead or support music-based extra-curricular activities, performances, and showcases
- Foster a love for music and the arts within the school and wider community
- Monitor student progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
- Collaborate closely with colleagues in the Creative Arts team
- Uphold high standards of behaviour and professionalism
- Contribute to whole-school events, CPD, and staff development initiatives
