Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's L&D (Learning and Development) and Mental Health Team is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our team. We are committed to providing high-quality support and interventions to children and young people experiencing mental health challenges.
About the Role:
You will be part of a team dedicated to:
- Providing tailored support and interventions to children and young people with a range of mental health needs, including anxiety, depression, and behavioral issues.
- Working collaboratively with families, schools, and other professionals to create individualised care plans.
- Promoting early intervention and prevention strategies to improve mental health outcomes.
- Supporting young people in accessing appropriate mental health services and resources.
- Advocating for the needs of children and young people with mental health needs.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people with mental health needs, identifying their strengths, needs, and risks.
- Develop and implement individualised care plans, using evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches.
- Work in partnership with families, schools, and other agencies to provide holistic support.
- Facilitate group work sessions and therapeutic interventions to address mental health challenges.
- Monitor progress, evaluate interventions, and make adjustments as needed.
- Promote early intervention and prevention strategies to improve mental health outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation, adhering to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Experience working with children and young people with mental health needs.
- Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and therapeutic approaches for mental health.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
- Ability to build rapport with children, young people, and families.
- Commitment to improving the mental health and well-being of children and young people.
