This role offers an opportunity to provide critical support and guidance to children and young people in the care system, helping them navigate their journey towards stability and independence.
As a Senior Practitioner, you will also mentor and support other social workers within the team, sharing your expertise to enhance overall practice standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of looked-after children and young people, developing and implementing tailored care plans to meet each individual's unique needs and circumstances.
- Conduct regular assessments and reviews to ensure that care placements and interventions remain in the best interests of the child or young person.
- Work closely with foster carers, families, and professionals in education, health, and other fields to ensure coordinated, holistic support.
- Provide mentorship, supervision, and guidance to social workers, helping to develop their skills and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.s.
- Act as a trusted advocate for looked-after children, ensuring that their voices are heard and incorporated into all decisions affecting them.
- Stay updated on best practices, policies, and legal standards, particularly around safeguarding, fostering, and child development.
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with valid Social Work England registration.
- Extensive experience working with children looked after, in a senior or supervisory capacity.
- In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act and safeguarding policies.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills to work effectively with children, families, and a multidisciplinary team.
- Proven ability to manage complex cases, supervise staff, and support the professional development of team members.
