Our client is seeking a highly experienced and commercially astute Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead and manage the commercial aspects of key construction projects in the North East. Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the commercial aspects of major construction projects in the North East, ensuring cost-effective delivery within agreed budgets and contractually agreed terms.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive cost plans, budgets, and forecasts for projects.
- Manage the procurement process, including tendering, contract negotiations, and subcontractor management.
- Provide expert guidance and support to project teams on all commercial matters, ensuring compliance with relevant contracts, including JCT and NEC forms.
- Proactively identify and mitigate potential risks and cost implications, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of best practice procedures for commercial management within the company.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and subcontractors, building a strong reputation for commercial expertise.
- Supervise and mentor junior Quantity Surveyors, providing guidance and professional development.
Key Requirements:
- Proven track record as a Managing Quantity Surveyor or a Senior Quantity Surveyor in a similar role within a main contractor.
- Extensive knowledge and experience working with both JCT and NEC contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the commercial aspects of large-scale construction projects, preferably within the commercial sector.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to make sound commercial judgments.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, fostering a collaborative working environment.
- Proficiency in relevant software packages, including cost management systems and BIM software.
