Randstad Tuition Services are on the search for a resilient mentor to provide face-to-face support to a neurodivergent young person in Essex (specifically CM7). This is a unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the child's understanding of politics and to address potential concerns around radicalisation and exploitation.
This role requires a mentor who is not easily offended and possesses the ability to engage in curious and gentle challenging. The child has expressed views which can be offensive/racist, and may be repeating things he may not understand. The aim of this intervention is for the mentor to help develop their understanding of what he's saying and the broader context, as well as to offer alternative perspectives. He is described as curious, which presents an opportunity for meaningful engagement and learning.
Ideally, we are looking for a male mentor, although we would consider female applicants. The mentoring sessions are scheduled for Monday pm.
The successful candidate will need to be comfortable discussing potentially sensitive and challenging topics in a non-confrontational manner. Experience or understanding of working with individuals who may hold radicalised views would be beneficial. While the sources mention that this young person is high risk, suicidal, and has a history of self harm, and refers to CAMS, the primary focus of this mentoring role is specifically around politics.
If you are a politically aware individual who is resilient, empathetic, and skilled in facilitating understanding and dialogue with young people, we encourage you to apply. This is a chance to provide invaluable support and guidance to a young person navigating complex issues.
Further details regarding the circumstances will be shared upon completion of the referral.
