Job Purpose
The Capacity Lead Engineer is responsible for overseeing and optimising the capacity planning, utilisation, and performance of building systems across a portfolio of properties. This includes leading the assessment of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) infrastructure to ensure reliability, compliance, and alignment with operational requirements and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the H&S of the sites and engineers.
- On site HV and LV Authorised Person when qualified
- To proactively check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with the company, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements. Especially with regards to sub-contractors adherence to RAMS.
- Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer subcontractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
- Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by site management.
- To undertake annual appraisals of shift technicians once you have completed the Appraisal and Development training course.
- Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI's/SLA's.
- Ensure the Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g. Maximo, Concept, etc is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
- Work closely with the Area Contract Manager to ensure that the service levels are maintained to a consistently high level.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
Strong background in building services engineering, ideally electrically qualified (level 3 or equivalent)
Proven experience in a technical or engineering leadership role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system schematics.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Familiarity with BMS, CAFM, and energy monitoring systems.
Desirable:
Experience working in critical environments (e.g., data centres, healthcare, or high-security sites).
Knowledge of energy efficiency frameworks and building optimisation techniques.
