Team: Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team
Role : Full Time
We are seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team on a 3-6 month contract. This is a crucial role, playing a key part in assessing and responding to concerns about children's welfare.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
- Information Gathering and Assessment: Receive and respond to referrals concerning children's welfare, gathering information from various sources (schools, health professionals, police, etc.). Conduct thorough risk assessments to determine the level of need and urgency of intervention. Utilize professional judgment and knowledge of safeguarding legislation to make informed decisions about next steps.
- Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work closely with professionals from various agencies within the MASH, including police, health, education, and housing, to share information, coordinate responses, and develop safety plans. Participate in strategy meetings and case conferences to ensure a joined-up approach to safeguarding.
- Decision Making & Case Allocation: Determine appropriate thresholds for intervention, referring cases to Children's Social Care or other agencies based on assessed need. Allocate cases to social work teams (where appropriate), ensuring a smooth transition and clear communication of key information.
- Record Keeping & Information Management: Maintain accurate and confidential records of all referrals, assessments, decisions, and actions taken. Utilize relevant databases and case management systems to ensure efficient information sharing and case tracking.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, CQSW, BA Hons in Social Work, or equivalent).
- Social Care England registration.
- Updated DBS check.
- Proven experience working within a MASH or similar multi-agency safeguarding environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing demands.
- Commitment to child-centered practice and a commitment to improving the lives of children and families.
Contract Details:
- This is a primarily office-based role, requiring 3 days a week in our Carlisle office.
- The contract will run for an initial 3 months with the potential for extension up to 6 months.
