Cisco Network Engineer - SD-Access, Wireless, Firepower & FMC
My client a leader in their field are seeking an experienced Cisco Network Engineer to join their expanding team on a contract basis. This role will involve working on a hybrid model, with 4 days on-site per week.
THIS ROLE IS INSIDE IR35
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining a secure, scalable, and high-performance network infrastructure. You will be required to have expertise in Cisco SD-Access, wireless networking, Firepower & FMC, as well as network perimeter security and firewall management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and maintain Cisco SD-Access solutions to enhance network automation and security.
- Manage and optimize wireless networks across campus, ensuring seamless connectivity and performance.
- Deploy, configure, and troubleshoot Cisco Firepower devices and FMC (Firepower Management Center) for advanced threat protection.
- Maintain and secure network perimeter, including firewall policies, VPNs, and intrusion prevention systems.
- Work closely with IT teams to support network infrastructure projects and day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network performance issues, implementing proactive solutions.
- Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards.
- Provide technical documentation and knowledge transfer to internal teams.
Key Skills & Experience:
- Cisco SD-Access (Software-Defined Access) - Strong experience in network automation, segmentation, and security policies.
- Wireless Networking - Hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst, Aironet, or Meraki wireless solutions.
- Cisco Firepower & FMC - Expertise in configuring and managing Cisco Firepower Threat Defense (FTD) and FMC.
- Firewalls & Perimeter Security - Knowledge of Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, or Fortinet firewalls and network access controls.
- Routing & Switching - Strong understanding of BGP, OSPF, VLANs, and Layer 2/3 network protocols.
- Troubleshooting & Monitoring - Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Center, or Splunk.
- Certifications (Desirable) - CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Security, Cisco SD-Access Certification, or equivalent.
