Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist with expertise in moving and handling? Manchester City Council is seeking a skilled OT to join the Moving and Handling Optimisation Team, playing a key role in ensuring individuals receive the optimal level of care to enhance their independence and well-being.
As an Occupational Therapist within social care, you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, collaborating with Physiotherapists, Social Workers, OTs, and Assessment Officers. This role sits within the Principal Occupational Therapy Team and reports to the Moving and Handling Optimisation Team Manager (OT).
✔ Conduct moving and handling risk assessments
✔ Provide training and guidance to carers
✔ Advise on and prescribe specialist equipment (e.g. hoists, slings, stand aids)
✔ Assess and recommend adaptations and assisted technology to promote independence
✔ Contribute to single-handed care approaches where possible (desirable)
✅ Degree in Occupational Therapy
✅ HCPC registration
✅ Proven experience in moving and handling within a social care setting
✅ Experience in risk assessments and providing manual handling training
✅ Knowledge of equipment and adaptations to optimise care
✅ Car driver essential - city-wide travel required
