Oracle SQL DBA
I am currently looking for an experienced Oracle SQL DBA to join a Financial Services Start up Company. You will be joining an ever expanding team that is on track to double in size by this time next year.
Ideally you will be from a financial or professional background and used to working in that environment but it is more your work ethic and attitude that is important.
Essential Skills
- Experience of maintaining on-premise and Oracle SQL databases - upgrades, high availability backup administration, monitoring, optimizations of DB servers, optimizations of SQL/Procedures
- Strong Oracle SQL knowledge with the ability to interrogate data stores and schema, investigate the results, and provide solutions to improve performance
- Has worked with and challenged developers, support and a wider business to improve the use of Oracle SQL via better schemas, performant stored procedures/views/functions, etc.
- A minimum 2.1 degree obtained in Computer Science, or a related field, ideally from a Russell Group University
- A wide and inquisitive interest in general technology and ability to turn your hand to many different technical problems
- A good understanding of ITIL processes, in particular a structured approach to continuous improvement of the production environment
- Respect of timelines and an "in built" urgency to resolve issues in a timely way
- Great team players with DevOps, Support, QA and Dev colleagues, never playing the "blame game" when problems arise
- Can form strong, honest and mutually respectful relationships with key clients
Desirable Skils
- High Availability via Always-On and Basic Availability Groups
- Backup/restore (DB/transaction logs)
- Powershell
- Performance optimization
- Oracle Server Maintenance
- Oracle server configuration
- Partitioning
- SQL snapshots
- Change data capture
- Understanding of SAN arrays - Nimble preferred, PURE or others acceptable
- Financial Services experience a bonus, but is not essential
