Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Wigan Council's Fostering - Kinship tTeam. This is a full time role offering a fantastic pay rate of £35 per hour.

Responsibilities:
- Complete fostering assessments for family and friends caring for children not living with their birth parents.
- Evaluate the suitability, safety, and ability of carers to meet the child's emotional and developmental needs.
- Guide carers through processes such as applying for Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs) where appropriate.
- Provide regular supervision and emotional support through the Friends and Family Assessment and Support Team (FFAST).
- Conduct home visits and placement reviews to ensure the child's well-being.
- Liaise with Children's Social Care and other professionals involved in the child's life.
- Facilitate access to core and ongoing training for kinship carers.
- Support carers in managing challenging behaviours, trauma, and attachment issues.
- Assist carers in applying for fostering allowances and discretionary financial support.
- Provide advice and signposting for welfare benefits and legal guidance.
- Organise peer support groups for kinship carers to reduce isolation and build resilience.
- Coordinate respite care options to help sustain placements and prevent breakdown.
- Support children in maintaining connections to family, education, and community.
- Promote continuity in the child's schooling, friendships, and cultural identity.
Requirements:
- Social Work Degree or equivalent
- Social Work England registered
- Enhanced DBS
