Social Worker - Family Safeguarding Team, Bury Council
Randstad is currently recruiting for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join the Family Safeguarding Team at Bury Council. This is a full-time locum opportunity offering up to £39 per hour, providing you with the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children and families within a supportive, multi-agency team environment.
About the Role
The Family Safeguarding model focuses on keeping families together through strength-based and trauma-informed practice. As a Social Worker in this team, you will work with children and their families where there are concerns around neglect, domestic abuse, substance misuse, and mental health-offering timely, targeted interventions that reduce risk and promote resilience.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake clear, evidence-based assessments in line with statutory requirements.
- Develop and implement outcome-focused support and safeguarding plans in partnership with families and multi-disciplinary professionals.
- Engage directly with parents and carers to help create safer environments for children.
- Use motivational interviewing techniques and trauma-informed approaches to effect positive change.
- Participate actively in core groups, child protection conferences, and review meetings.
- Maintain accurate and timely case recordings, demonstrating accountability and good practice.
Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Experience in statutory children's social work, preferably in safeguarding or family support teams.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
- Strong understanding of the legislative and policy framework for children's services.
