Role: Quantity Surveyor
Civil Engineering Contractor
Location: Balsall Common, Coventry
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Package & Benefits
Project: HS2 - Structures Package
This is an exciting opportunity for a Surveyor that is looking to take the next step in their career, by working for a well established contractor on HS2 focusing on the structures package. As an intermediate Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for ensuring that the work is completed on time and within budget, while maximising profitability and ensuring the highest standards of project delivery. You will be working as part of a strong commercial team and will be reporting directly into the Commercial Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and monitor project costs, providing accurate and timely reporting on commercial performance.
- Preparation and agreement of interim valuations and final accounts.
- Identification, evaluation, and management of risks and opportunities within the project.
- Engage in contract administration and ensure compliance with the contract terms.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and consultants.
- Support the senior QS team with cost forecasting and change control management.
- Assist in procurement of subcontractors and manage variations and claims.
Experience:
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, ideally within large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of NEC contracts or other relevant forms of contract.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- A proactive and collaborative team player with the ability to work independently when required.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, or similar) would be advantageous.
