Key Responsibilities of a Residential Childcare Worker:
- Build trusting and supportive relationships with the children and young people in your care
- Assist with daily care, ensuring their safety and promoting a structured routine
- Plan and participate in engaging recreational and educational activities
- Encourage educational attainment and provide necessary support
- Facilitate workshops, group activities, and life skills sessions to promote personal development, social skills, and decision-making
- Collaborate with team members and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to care
- Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents, and concerns
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, and regulations in residential childcare
To Succeed in This Role, You Will Need:
- Previous experience working with young people in a care setting in the UK
- Knowledge of cognitive behavioural approaches, attachment theory, and child protection policy
- The ability to demonstrate how your lived experiences have shaped your approach to care
- Experience advocating on behalf of young people
- Registration under the PVG scheme
- A full driving licence
- SVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent
