Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support and care to young offenders on remand, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Implement individual care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour management strategies.
- Offer practical and emotional support to young people, helping them to develop essential life skills.
- Work collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, psychologists, and education providers.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports.
- Manage challenging behaviour and de-escalate potentially volatile situations.
- Provide support and guidance relating to substance misuse, mental health, and rehabilitation.
- Participate in regular team meetings and training sessions.
Shift pattern
7am - 10pm: 1 day on, 2 days off
Night shifts: 5 days on and 5 days off
Essential Requirements:
- Proven experience working with young people with challenging behaviours, ideally within a residential setting.
- Demonstrable experience in supporting young people with substance misuse issues.
- Strong understanding of mental health difficulties and experience in providing appropriate support.
- Experience in rehabilitation and promoting positive behavioural change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- Resilience, patience, and a non-judgmental approach.
- A relevant qualification in social care, youth work, or a related field (e.g., SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care) is highly desirable.
- A full UK driving license and access to your own vehicle is desirable.
- Must be willing to undergo an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.
