Middlesbrough Borough Council's Children's Services is seeking a skilled and compassionate Children's Social Worker to join our dynamic Safeguarding, Care Planning and Children with Disabilities Team. Your Role:
As a member of our Safeguarding, Care Planning and Children with Disabilities Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children with disabilities within Middlesbrough.
Your Responsibilities will include:
- Safeguarding: Conducting thorough assessments to identify and address potential risks to children with disabilities, ensuring their safety and protection from harm.
- Care Planning: Developing individualized care plans tailored to the unique needs and wishes of children with disabilities, ensuring they receive appropriate support and interventions.
- Collaboration: Working closely with families, other professionals (such as healthcare professionals, education staff, and therapists), and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to the child's care.
- Advocacy: Advocating for the needs and rights of children with disabilities, ensuring they have access to the necessary services, resources, and opportunities.
- Direct Work with Children: Building strong relationships with children with disabilities, providing emotional support, guidance, and advocacy to help them thrive.
- Supporting Transitions: Supporting children with disabilities through significant transitions, such as moving between placements, entering adulthood, or accessing new services.
- Promoting Inclusion: Working to ensure children with disabilities have equal opportunities to participate in their communities and reach their full potential.
Key Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification: You must be a qualified Social Worker.
- Social Care England Registration: Essential for this role.
- Updated DBS: Essential for working with children and families.
- Experience in Working with Children with Disabilities: Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities and a strong understanding of their unique needs, rights, and challenges.
- Strong Assessment and Case Management Skills: Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop effective care plans, and manage complex cases effectively.
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build positive relationships with children, families, other professionals, and stakeholders.
- Commitment to Safeguarding Children: Passion for protecting children and ensuring their rights and well-being are paramount.

- Exceptional Salary: £40,476 - £42,708 per annum (with potential for higher salary based on experience - £46,547 - £49,114) plus a 15% market supplement, totaling up to £49,114.
