About the school:
This is a flourishing mixed, non-selective secondary school based in Havering. All children and young people are welcomed in their inclusive community, and all are challenged to be the best they can be.
This role requires you to work from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, Monday-Friday, as this is a permanent position that starts soon.
The School Careers Advisor will contribute to the development of a strong, effective school with an emphasis on promoting a culture of educational excellence, with mutual care and respect which extends beyond the school into the wider community.
The successful candidate will have the below responsibilities:
- Deliver individual, impartial careers advice to all pupils within the academy. Offer support to teachers on how to support pupils
- Deliver impartial Career Advisor activities and sessions to groups of students, including assemblies
- Support Year 10 pupils to identify school work placement opportunities
- Provide both advice and administrative support for the Year 9 Options process
- Coordinate the academy's annual Career's Convention
- To organise and provide training, guidance and support for school staff, where needed, so that they are equipped to deliver the Career Advisor programme effectively
- Work with Pastoral teams to support children with greater needs
- Provide administrative support, if needed, for the securing of the school's Skills Builder accreditation
- Ensure all pupils are fully aware of their options post 16 and beyond and support them in making informed, appropriate choices and applications
- Manage and maintain manual and computerised record/information system (SIMS)

The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Previous experience of supporting Career Advisor for young people - this is essential for the position
- Qualification in Careers Guidance ideal
- Ability to work independently and support the work of a wider team
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to organise workload, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Awareness of sensitive information and the need for confidentiality
- Experience of managing administrative systems and procedures
- Eligibility to work in the UK is ESSENTIAL (sponsorship is not available with this role)
- DBS on a update service is a must
- 2 recent relevant references
