About The Role :
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated School Cleaner/Maintenance Worker to work at a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school based in Newmarket. As a School cleaner, you will help us maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all the students and staff! You will be responsible for a range of cleaning and basic maintenance tasks, helping to create a safe and comfortable environment for students, staff, and visitors. Your role will support the smooth running of the school on a day-to-day basis.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular cleaning duties, including classrooms, corridors, toilets, and communal areas
- Ensure all areas are kept hygienic, tidy, and presentable
- Carry out light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, minor repairs, and ensuring the safety of the premises
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment and supplies
- Assist with setting up spaces for school events or activities
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment
- Work collaboratively with the school team to maintain a positive atmosphere
The Ideal Candidate:
- Previous experience in cleaning and/or maintenance (school experience is a plus)
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness
- Basic DIY or maintenance skills
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- Understanding of health and safety regulations and safe cleaning practices
- A positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to help
