Randstad Education is working in partnership with this school to appoint an experienced Design and Technology Technician.The position will begin as soon as possible and the candidate should expect to work Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Responsibilities of this position involve the following:
... - Monitoring, controlling and keeping financial records of the departmental expenditure in accordance with the Academy's Policy
- Safe treatment and disposal of used materials, including hazardous substances and responding to actual or potential hazards
- Ensuring the availability of suitable materials and equipment (including CAM equipment) and suggesting alternatives for suitability and economy
- Preparing materials and equipment (including CAM equipment) for Design and Technology lessons (in Resistant Materials and Textiles) and projects, including the preparation of demonstration materials and resources and the stocking of classrooms with consumable resources
- Co-ordinating the assessment, monitoring and review of both health and safety procedures and information resources
- Carrying out first line servicing of machines and equipment in the multi materials teaching and prep areas
- Provision of technical advice on health and safety issues to teachers, support staff and students
- Undertaking the lead role on routine and non-routine checking, cleaning, maintenance, testing and repairing of equipment (including CAM equipment) to the required standard

Requirements for this role:
- Right to work in the UK (Essential)
- Enhanced child DBS on the update service or willingness to get new one
- Previous technician work experience, preferably within a school environment
- Focus on the impact and outcomes of DT Technician activities
- 2 recent professional references
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proactive problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented approach
