I am currently working with a SEMH school in the Harrogate area seeking highly dedicated and experienced full-time SEMH Teaching Assistants. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team committed to providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment for pupils facing a range of emotional and social challenges.
The successful candidate will:
- Possess a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Provide individual and small group support to learners with SEMH needs.
- Work closely with teachers and other professionals to implement effective strategies in line with a learner's EHCP.
- Utilise a range of techniques to manage challenging behaviour, promote emotional regulation, and develop positive social skills.
- Encourage and support learners' participation in classroom activities and social interactions.
- Maintain clear boundaries while fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of a positive behaviour support system.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs in a school or other educational setting.
- A calm and patient demeanour, with a strong understanding of de-escalation techniques.
- Ability to follow and implement structured support plans while adapting to individual learner needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with learners, families, and colleagues.
- A valid driving license and access to a vehicle to travel to the school in Harrogate.
- A TeamTeach qualification (or willingness to attend training).
- Must have a UK driving licence
