We are seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team, supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs in a supportive and encouraging environment. As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in helping students overcome challenges, develop their social-emotional skills, and thrive academically.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Working one-on-one or in small groups with students, providing tailored support to address their specific needs. This could include helping them manage anxiety, develop coping mechanisms for challenging emotions, or improve their communication and social skills.
- Developing strong rapport and trust with students, creating a safe and nurturing environment where they feel understood and valued.
- Working with teachers to implement positive behaviour management techniques, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.
- Assisting students with their academic work, providing one-on-one tutoring, and facilitating small group activities to help them catch up or excel in their studies.
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting each student's needs.
- Maintaining open communication with parents/carers, sharing progress updates, and collaborating on strategies to support their child at home.
Requirements:
- Possess a genuine passion for working with children who face social-emotional challenges.
- Have experience working with children in an educational setting, ideally in a primary or EYFS environment. A background in psychology is highly advantageous.
- Are a natural communicator and relationship builder, able to build rapport and trust with students from diverse backgrounds.
- Are patient, understanding, and possess a strong ability to adapt your approach to meet individual needs.
- Are a team player and enjoy collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
- Are a confident driver with access to your own vehicle.
