We are seeking a caring and motivated SEN Teaching Assistant (Level 1-2) to join our team in Darwen. In this role, you will support students aged 10-19 with a range of complex needs, including Autism, Asperger's Syndrome, and related conditions, helping them thrive in a nurturing and inclusive environment.
The Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in fostering students' academic, social, and emotional growth. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help plan and deliver tailored learning activities that promote independence, positive behaviour, and personal development.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning and evaluating lessons and activities.
- Provide regular feedback on students' progress and achievements.
- Monitor individual students to ensure they are meeting learning goals and adhering to school policies.
- Support positive behaviour management by adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
- Encourage social, emotional, and personal development in line with the school's curriculum.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for student transport).
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/Level 2 or above) - essential.
- Level 2 qualification in Teaching and Learning Support (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection practices.
- Flexible, creative, and able to adapt support to meet individual student needs.
