We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in South Leeds from December through July. This role involves working with students across various needs, providing essential support for their academic, social, and emotional development.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small-group support to students with diverse special educational needs, helping them engage in classroom activities and achieve learning goals.
- Assist teachers in developing and implementing individualised learning plans and strategies for each child.
- Support students in managing behavioural challenges, using positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
- Encourage and promote students' social skills, independence, and confidence.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCO, and other staff to maintain a supportive and inclusive environment.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to reports, sharing insights with teaching staff and parents.
Requirements:
Experience working with children with additional needs, ideally within a school setting.
Strong understanding of SEN practices and patience in supporting children's varied learning requirements.
Ability to maintain a calm and supportive approach, promoting a positive learning environment.
Effective communication skills for working with students, teachers, and families.
DBS check required (or willingness to undergo one).
