Are you committed to making a difference in the lives of students with special educational needs? We're searching for a dedicated and caring SEN Teaching Assistant to join our enthusiastic team at our SEN upper school 🌈
Role Overview:
In this role, you will be essential in supporting students with a range of needs, concentrating on their safety, emotional health, and educational development. You'll work closely with the Head of Learning or a designated teacher to help deliver the curriculum both in and out of the classroom.
Key Responsibilities:
Student Support:
- Provide individual or small group assistance to promote students' physical, emotional, educational, and social growth.
- Encourage independent learning through structured activities and programs.
- Build supportive relationships to enhance students' self-esteem, independence, and resilience.
- Foster an inclusive environment where every student feels valued and supported.
Classroom Assistance:
- Help teachers plan and implement tailored lesson plans.
- Maintain an organised and supportive classroom environment.
- Ensure smooth transitions between different activities throughout the school day.
- Track and report on student progress and achievements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities.
- Supervise students during non-classroom times, including before and after school and during lunch.
- Assist with school trips and other external activities.
- Adhere to the school's safeguarding and student welfare policies.
Person Specification:
Essential:
- NVQ Level 2 or an equivalent qualification.
- At least one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
- Knowledge of educational practices related to child welfare and education.
- Strong ability to build relationships with students and colleagues and work effectively in a team.
Desirable:
- Additional qualifications in Education.
- Experience with SEMH, ASD, and other special educational needs.
- ICT proficiency and a First Aid qualification.
Requirements:
- Compliance with the school's safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Completion of an Enhanced Disclosure check upon appointment.
- Flexibility to attend meetings outside regular school hours when necessary.
- Physical ability to engage in Restrictive Physical Interventions if needed.
