About the Role:
Are you an experienced Science Teacher looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Science Teacher to join a specialist school in Leyland, supporting students aged 9-16 with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
As a Science Teacher, you will deliver engaging and tailored lessons to small class sizes (no more than 8 students), ensuring that every learner receives the support they need to thrive academically and personally.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons following a broad and balanced curriculum.
- Support students in developing their confidence and enthusiasm for learning.
- Assess, track, and report pupil progress, ensuring personalised learning approaches.
- Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and other professionals to provide a holistic learning experience.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of all students, following the school's policies.
- Provide guidance and support to Assistant Teachers and Higher Level Teaching Assistants.
- Contribute to staff meetings, multi-disciplinary team discussions, and professional development.
Qualifications & Experience:
- PGCE, QTS, Cert Ed, or equivalent teaching qualification.
- Experience working with students with SEN, SEMH, SLD, PMLD, or ASD.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures.
- Experience managing a range of behaviour strategies, including de-escalation techniques.
